Deep Burst Denoising

چکیده
Noise is an inherent issue of low-light image capture, one which is exacerbated on mobile devices due to their narrow apertures and small sensors. One strategy for mitigating noise in a low-light situation is to increase the shutter time of the camera, thus allowing each photosite to integrate more light and decrease noise variance. However, there are two downsides of long exposures: (a) bright regions can exceed the sensor range, and (b) camera and scene motion will result in blurred images. Another way of gathering more light is to capture multiple short (thus noisy) frames in a burst and intelligently integrate the content, thus avoiding the above downsides. In this paper, we use the burst-capture strategy and implement the intelligent integration via a recurrent fully convolutional deep neural net (CNN). We build our novel, multiframe architecture to be a simple addition to any single frame denoising model, and design to handle an arbitrary number of noisy input frames. We show that it achieves state of the art denoising results on our burst dataset, ∗This work was done during an internship at Facebook. improving on the best published multi-frame techniques, such as VBM4D [31] and FlexISP [21]. Finally, we explore other applications of image enhancement by integrating content from multiple frames and demonstrate that our DNN architecture generalizes well to image super-resolution.

When Image Denoising Meets High-Level Vision Tasks: A Deep Learning Approach
Conventionally, image denoising and high-level vision tasks are handled separately in computer vision, and their connection is fragile. In this paper, we cope with the two jointly and explore the mutual influence between them with the focus on two questions, namely (1) how image denoising can help solving high-level vision problems, and (2) how the semantic information from high-level vision ta...

Image denoising based on a probabilistic model of local image patches has been employed by various researchers, and recently a deep denoising autoencoder has been proposed in [2] and [17] as a good model for this. In this paper, we propose that another popular family of models in the field of deep learning, called Boltzmann machines, can perform image denoising as well as, or in certain cases o...

Deep learning is an emerging approach for finding concise, slightly higher level representations of the inputs, and has been successfully applied to many practical learning problems, where the goal is to use large data to help on a given learning task. We present an algorithm for image denoising task defined by this model, and show that by training on large image databases we are able to outper...
متن کاملStacked Denoising Autoencoders: Learning Useful Representations in a Deep Network with a Local Denoising Criterion
We explore an original strategy for building deep networks, based on stacking layers of denoising autoencoders which are trained locally to denoise corrupted versions of their inputs. The resulting algorithm is a straightforward variation on the stacking of ordinary autoencoders. It is however shown on a benchmark of classification problems to yield significantly lower classification error, thu...
